Breastfeeding/ The Race Against Time

May 18, 2026

I wish I could capture the sound she makes with her mouth when she’s asking to eat

The feeling of her burring her head, looking for a way in

The wind up and smack against my face or collar bone

I wish I could capture the sweetness of her warm palm pressed against my lips

Of her little fingers searching for my mouth

Of her little toes pressing against my belly to perform some nursing gymnastics routine meant just for her and me

I will have to keep this version of her locked away in my heart that I can visit from time to time

Because it’s already going by so fast

And my heart cannot keep up
