Getting Ready for *ANOTHER* Move
May 23, 2025
My husband and I recently decided that moving back to Iowa was going to be the best option for us moving forward, in this phase of life we are in. This being said, this is a really large transition for us because it will be the second cross country move in the two years we have been married. I am also pregnant, so I am not able to help in the same way that I was able to the last time we were moving. Here are some ways I am trying to prepare for another big move:
downsize in any way we can - we want to declutter and remove anything we don’t care to take with us beforehand, that way there is less into the moving boxes and less we have to figure out where to put when we move in
vacuum pack out-of-season clothes - we do not have any formal events coming up, and the weather has officially turned in both the state were coming from, and the state were going, so I have already started this processes by bagging up all my formal dresses and all of my heavy sweaters hopefully making both easier to move
art sale - I am doing what I can to get all of the art that I currently have available on this site, out of my hands and into homes of people who want to buy my art. this is much easier said than done being that I do not have much of a social media presence, but I am trying to get the word out that I need things gone. this is also to set myself up for an autumn collection, and autumn commissions opening here in September
packing early - very quickly I go from full energy, to not a drop and not feeling well, so I do worry quite a bit that Eli will be left with a lot of the packing all on his own, so for the next couple months, we will be living with boxes piling around us. not ideal, but better than the scramble to get everything out of here in time
none of these are groundbreaking or thought provoking, but these are simple ways that I am trying to make our lives a little easier than it was the last time.
