Inexpensive Date Night Ideas
November 12, 2025
Coming up with ideas for date night is not always easy, and I don’t know about you, but we end up doing the same thing most of our date nights. Here are some date night ideas that are a little on the less expensive side:
botanical garden - our local botanical garden has jazz nights where they play, you guessed it, jazz in the gardens after usual hours. our gardens also has a little cafe that we can go to for lunch dates during the week if we have a longer lunch break
mystery movie night - pick a random movie you haven’t heard of either from a streaming service, or from the library’s rental area, and see if you have just found your new favorite movie, or your new favorite movie to make fun of
take a class - Eli and I recently did a cooking class together, and that was so fun. another class we have considered signing ourselves up for is a dance class. we both really enjoy dancing, and have been meaning to learn a fun way to dance together for years now
teaching night - come up with a powerpoint helping to describe how to do something you know how to do that your significant other does not. this can be as silly or serious as you want, but I would suggest not making it something like “how to load the dishwasher” or “how to properly fold towels” but more like “how to crochet a beanie” or “how to bake bread”
color coded night - take yourselves to the store and pick a color that you are going to try to stick with. walk around the store, either together or separately, and find snacks, activities, drinks, cozy things to wear or whatever categories you want to make, all in the same color
spend some time outside - depending on the season, this could be ice skating, foliage peeping, wildflower collecting, swimming, or picnicking
bookstore date - go tot the bookstore and pick out a book you would like to read together, or a book you think your partner would like (either are fun ways to go about this date)
Happy dating!
