Movie Review: Drop

May 16, 2025

I am going to start this review by making sure you know that there are definite plot holes in this movie, and that there are things that I would change if I was the one writing it, but overall, this was a great movie.

We follow the story of a young mother who has somewhat recently been widowed, but her late husband was not all that great of a guy. The balance between the shock and the fear of moving on with someone that could end up just like him makes her wait a long time before she starts dating again, but when she finally gets on the apps, she finds this really great guy. They talk for a while and she learns a lot about him, and finally gives into meeting up with him for dinner. She is beyond nervous, but her sweet sister comes over to watch her son, and to help her get ready for the date. Arriving to the fabulous restaurant, her date is late, and she sits down at the bar to shake off some nerves. Next to her, a sweet man mistakes her for his blind date, and they get to chatting. His date shows up and she wishes him luck. While she was in this conversation someone in the 50 feet around her airdrops something to her phone, but she thinks it’s probably a mistake and laughs it off. But was it a mistake? Is it harmless? Is someone just playing a trick on her or is her family actually in danger?

I was on the edge of my seat for this movie. Completely lost in the suspense, I could feel myself sweating through my shirt. Again, there are some plot holes (like how little she cares about her sisters safety and well being even though she saved her child’s life) but overall this was a highly enjoyable film filled with suspense and thrill. I would suggest it!
