Moving across the Country…Again
July 18, 2025
I am not going to lie to you, I am getting pretty sick of moving. Even when we moved from the Denver area to Colorado Springs, it was pretty miserable, but then moving across the country, yet again, it is a lot. And we don’t have that much stuff.
But coming back to Iowa has been so refreshing.
Eli and I both grew up in central Iowa, and didn’t realize how much we missed being here until being back. There are so many things we are noticing that we kind of forgot were normal here. Even something as simple as having really great local dairies that we know about, and really wonderful local restaurants that we grew up going to. There are birds, bunnies, and bees everywhere we look. Not that Colorado doesn’t have those things, but Iowa for sure has more of an abundance of them. The grass is lush and soft, the trees are full and filled with birds. The air is humid, and the sun is so far away and doesn’t hurt the way the sun does in Colorado. There is familiarity lurking around every turn and it feels natural to move around in this space. I never really realized how much I missed being here until coming back and feeling the change deep in my bones. I am not sure if this move is for a couple years, a couple decades or the rest of our lives, but I am going to soak it in here as much as I can while we are here.
Here’s to falling in love with your hometowns all over again.
