Book Review: Exit Lane by Erika Veurink

* typo disclaimer: I am luck to even have the time to write on my blog at all with how little ( and needy ) my baby is, let alone have time to edit them, and lets be honest, I have never been that good at editing anyway. please be patient with me at this time.
We follow the story of two young adults over the course of eight years. Throughout those years, they fall apart and come back together multiple times ( which you know I am a sucker for ). They are kind of always drawn to each other, but for one reason or another, they never really talk about it. Teddy and Marin are both from Iowa and went to University of Iowa for college. Once they graduate, they both happen to be moving to New York for one reason or another, so Marin’s best friend sets it up that they will drive together for the multiple day road trip. Teddy usually wouldn’t say yes, but he happens to be hopelessly in love with Marins best friend, and would do anything she asks. (this part of the story, and honestly a lot of the story, feels a lot like People We Meet On Vacation by Emily Henry, and I am not mad about it ) over the course of the ride, Marin and Teddy become friends but Marin wants nothing to do with anyone or anything from Iowa other than her best friend, so how is a friendship with the guy she drove from Iowa with going to fit into her life? It’s not. So what if she has a connection with him that feels unique and important. So what if he makes her feel safe and seen. So what if she cannot stop thinking about him. He is from Iowa and she is leaving that life behind her.
I really enjoyed this sweet love story from the mind of Erika Vuerink and I look forward to see what she comes up with next. I actually went to high school with Erika, but even though it was a pretty small school, I interacted with her almost not at all. This story was a quick and easy read and overall I enjoyed it a lot.
