Book review: The Bright Years by Sarah Damoff

April 17, 2026

Now, I am not sure this review is really going to be entirely reliable due to the fact that I am writing this in my “just finished a really good book” high but this is, without a doubt, my new favorite book. I will be thinking about this book for years to come but not in the way I’ll be thinking about Roman and iris or Zanthi and Madoc.  Finishing those books (divine rivals and all woven with ivy respectively) was like losing friends, and I’ve lost so many. But ending this book is like finishing the movie version of never let me go; I have felt heartache and love and hope in a way I hadn’t, through media, before. This book was everything I needed it to be and more. I don’t even want to tell you what it’s about - I want you to go in blind. I cannot recommend this book enough and look forward to reading it again in a few years.
