in autumn I thrive

I love sweaters and the crunch of leaves

I love the cool air and the shorter days

I love the sounds of marching bands practicing for their weekly games

I love the anticipation of the things to come

to me, it feels like a fresh start

like a warm embrace

like a new beginning

to me, it feels like starting anew

like there are endless possibilities

like I can finally take a deep breath

there is nothing sweeter than the smell of apples and pumpkin spice

there is nothing as homey as cinnamon rolls and black tea

there is nothing as nostalgic as finding a halloween costume that you have been dreaming about since you saw that movie a couple months ago

there is nothing like autumn

and I have a feeling this is going to be the best autumn yet
