Welcome Back

May 2, 2025

So, in case you missed it, I took off most of the month of April from blogging, from posting on social media, from making art, from all of it! At the beginning of April, I started to feel really burnt out because of the lack of interest in my blog and my art, which I know is silly. For the most part, this website is just for me anyway, but the lack of response hit me hard. I didn’t realize how hard the lack of response would hit me, until I didn't have a single response and it felt deeply personal.

In college I struggled a lot with this as well. When a professor wouldn’t understand why I made something the way that I did, or they didn’t like the thing that I created, it always felt like a personal attack. Art is both so personal and also so open to others interpretations that it is hard to not take something personally but it is so necessary to develop a thick skin when it comes to art.

Now that I am a few steps away from it, and also having gone through some pretty dramatic life changes, I am ready to jump back into the things that I love. Speaking of the life changes, my husband and I will be moving back to Iowa, where we grew up, and we are also expecting our first baby! We are beyond excited for all these new changes, but this being said, this is going to take a bit of a back burner in comparison to the other things that we have going on. I cannot promise as many posts on this blog as you have grown used to, but I will post as much as I am able to battling nausea and preparing to move across the country, again.

Thank you for your patience and I am excited to be back!
